northern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi.
Squally Wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) very likely over Southeast Arabian Sea. Fishermen are
advised not to venture into this area.
25 December (Day 2):
Cold Wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets over Punjab.
Dense fog very likely in isolated pockets over Punjab, northern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana,
Chandigarh & Delhi.
Squally Wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) very likely over Southeast Arabian Sea. Fishermen are
advised not to venture into this area.
26 December (Day 3):

Weather Outlook for subsequent 2 days from 29th December to 30th December, 2020
Under the influence of an easterly trough, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/thundershower likely over
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and isolated rainfall/thundershower over south Andhra Pradesh,
Coastal & South Interior Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe.Scattered to Fairly widespread thundershower activity with isolated heavy rainfall over Tamilnadu,
Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep Islands. Isolated snowfall likely over
Western Himalayan Region.
Weather likely to be dry over remaining parts of the country.
Salient Advisories
As Cold Wave conditions very likely in some pockets over Punjab on 24th, in isolated pockets over
Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Telangana on 24th and over Punjab on 25th, apply light and frequent irrigation/sprinkler irrigation in the evening to protect the crops from
cold injury. To protect young fruit plants from chilly winds, cover them with Sarkanda/ straw/polythene
sheets/gunny bags.
Cover banana bunches with porous polythene bags.
To overcome cold injury and for better nursery growth in rice, cover the nursery beds with
polythene sheet during night and remove in the morning. Irrigate the nursery beds every day in
the evening and let the water out in the morning.
As Dense to very dense fog very likely in some pockets over Punjab on 24th, Dense fog in isolated
pockets over northern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi on 24th and over
Punjab, northern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi on 25th, monitor the standing
crops for incidence and spread of pest & diseases. Monitor tomato and potato crops for late blight
disease. If symptoms are noticed, undertake plant protection measures.
As rain/thundershowers likely at many places over Lakshadweep on 24th, over Andaman &
Nicobar Islands on 26th and over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on 27th along with heavy rainfall
very likely at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 26th, Avoid irrigation, intercultural operation and application of plant protection methods and
fertilizers to the standing crops. Arrange for adequate drainage to avoid water stagnation in standing crop fields. Keep the cattle inside shed during heavy rainfall.
As thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar
Islands on 26th, Provide mechanical support to young fruit plants and vegetables to prevent them from lodging
due to strong winds. Keep the harvested produce at safer places. Keep farm animals indoor during thunderstorm.
